The National City Harding Avenue
Project will break ground in early June

North County women build homes and hope - April 29, 2009

Some had never used a hammer, but 15 North County women spent Tuesday building new homes and hope for neighbors in need.
The 15 volunteers joined an all-female Women Build project in Carlsbad for San Diego Habitat for Humanity to help construct a two-bedroom condo for a North County waitress and her 4-year-old son.
"I'm the girl who's never held a hammer," said Linda Strand of San Marcos.

Smith Barney Financial Advisors and staff joined San Diego Habitat for Humanity for a day of volunteering at the Libby Lake build site in Oceanside. The project consists of twenty single family three and four bedroom homes.
Over forty Smith Barney volunteers came from the local Smith Barney branch offices of Rancho Santa Fe, La Jolla and UTC. San Diego Habitat for Humanity Supervisor Mike Gehl supervised the Smith Barney crew as they constructed fences, worked on landscaping, painted and performed other tasks on five of the nearly completed homes.
